एस्. एम् जोशी एक गोष्ट सांगत. एका गांवांत सगळेच दारु गाळत, दारु विकत आमि दारु पिऊन धिंगाणा घालत. फक्त एक माणूस गाई ठेऊन दूध विकत असे. तेंव्हा सर्वांनी त्याच्यावर आरोप केले कि याच्या दुधांत पाणी असते. म्हणूनच चिंदंबरम् ची पत्नी इनकम टॅक्स लॉयर असून हसन अलीला बेल मिळवून देते ते पुढे चर्चेला येत नाही. मात्र सुरेश जैन यांनी अण्णांवर केलेले आरोप चर्चेत येतात.

Connect the Dots- Kashinath Tapuriah and P Chidambaram

Kashi Nath Tapuria, described as close associate of Hasan Ali was arrested by Enforcement Directorate earlier this week. Just by reading these news, one may believe him to be a small fish, may be used as a benami in some transactions.
Think again. He is at least as well connected and as sleek as the more famopus Hasan Ali.
He is a Clacutta Industrialist. He was in news when he bought Indian Cable Co. Ltd from its british owners in 1980s. He later changed its name to Incab Industries Ltd. The shareholders of this company dismissed him from chairmanship in 1996, who felt he was responsible for its financial troubles.
He is brother of Priyamvanda Birla (then head of MP Birla Group), whose will giving all her assets to her Chartered Accountant (Lodha) on her death created a lot of fuss. I believe the case is still entangled in various courts. The assetes were valued at Rs. 2404 crores, according to Birla Group. Tapuria was also an executor of one of the contested wills.
His advocate in this case, as well as in many others, was Ms. Nalini Chidambaram.

She also represented him in criminal procedding for evasion of Income Tax of Rs. 2,00,00,00,00,000 (20 thousand crores Rupees). At the same time, the Enforcement Directorate also send him show cause notice for explaining transactions in Swiss Bank A/c of $ 1,60,00,00,000 (160 Crores dollars). The intelligence agencies were claiming that some of this fund went to finance operations of the famous Saudi Arms dealer Adnan Kashoggi
At the time of this event, P Chidambaram was the Finance Minister. As such, both the Income Tax department and the Enforcement Directorate reported directly to him.
Now just connect the dots – 2 agencies, controlled by P Chidambaram were claiming that Tapuriah was a huge money launderer – and also connected to Hasan Ali who was financing the illegal Arms trade. At the same time, Chidambaram’s wife was representing him in various courts. Tapuria was able to stay out of jail and trouble for a long period.
Now, the supreme court has taken a direct interest in Hasan Ali case, and ED may find it difficult to drag its feet. Secondly, the ED is under Finance Ministry – which is now under Pranabda. And Kashinath Tapuriah is not represented by Ms. Ms. Nalini Chidambaram.
Hasan Ali says, his life is at risk in the jail. He specifically mentioned that he is threatened by Kashinath Tapuriah. Tapuriah, on his side, claims he has not met Hasan Ali in 4 years, and has no business deal, whatsoever, Enforcement Directorate says that Tapuriah gave them the information regarding Hasan Ali’s many foreign bank accounts, as well as Adnan Khashoggi Connection.
